Day 12 | Class Observation at Chiputula Primary School | SHANTU Archive

We visited Chiputula Primary School to observe classes in grades 5, 6, and 7 as we plan on the nutrition classes for the students. Each of us joined different classes and observed teaching styles and students’ learning behavior. The classes we got to observe include science, agriculture, math, bible knowledge, expressive art, social studies, and English, and they were all taught in English! The classes were interactive, and the students were engaged and motivated in learning. It was a great opportunity to observe the classes before creating our nutrition classes for the students. After observing the classes, we took the time to share our observations, learnings, and potential ideas for our nutrition education classes among the group.

After the morning classes, we stopped by the school garden to check on the current progress of the school garden. We joined the students to build raised beds for the seedlings and learned how to use a rope to create straight rows. We have watered the sprouts in the nursery, and the sprouts will be ready to be transplanted into the beds soon! We also picked up trash around the garden to create a clean and safe garden.
