What do you hope to gain from this project?

A greater insight into how global health service work is carried out, as well as how to carefully and respectful help those from different cultural backgrounds.

Why is this project important to you?

It’s provides an incredible opportunity to apply my global health education to help address health disparities in the world.

What will be your contribution to the project?

My teammates and I are currently helping district health workers in Mzuzu, Malawi better collect and analyze COVID-19 data. Our hope is that through this work we are able to help reduce and alleviate problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Being on SHANTU affords me the opportunity to contribute to the overall public healthiness of a region of the world far-removed from mine, yet, vital to my own health security too!

What do you hope to gain from this project?

More specifically, I hope to gain further insights on how emergency health operations serve as the first line of defence against a public health emergency.

Why is this project important to you?

As a global health researcher, it’s my understanding that the failure of the COVID-19 prevention in Malawi does not only portend a public health emergency for the rest of Africa but for the world as well; hence, a successful campaign against the pandemic in one region of the globe is a precursor to Health4All.

What will be your contribution to the project?

I am keen on assisting the data team with surveillance, data entry, and analysis—the latter so as to have a clearer picture of events on ground.
