Congratulations! Director Joseph Wu has been awarded the 2024 Medical Dedication Award for His Decade-Long Commitment to Local Medical Development.
We are proud to announce that Joseph Wu, one of GRASP’s esteemed directors, has been awarded the 2024 Medical Dedication Award. Joseph, a global health development worker and researcher based in Malawi, working with a Norwegian nongovernmental supporting the country’s health information system enhancement and capacity building. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer at National Taiwan University, Mzuzu University and the University of Livingstonia.
“Seventeen years of working experience in Malawi has deeply underscored the importance of cultivating human resources in the international development area” Joseph shares. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are ambitious and challenging to achieve, especially in developing regions where the needs are immense. Meanwhile, there is a clear gap in implementation and contribution from developed regions. However, Joseph believes that talented Taiwanese can bring innovative approaches and resources to mitigate the gaps.Driven by the vision of empowering local communities and fostering long-term capacity building, Joseph and several other directors co-founded GRASP. “I envision GRASP becoming a platform for Taiwan’s resiliency and energy to be brought to bear with the needed population. I expect GRASP to work like glue, liquid, and gentle, sticking all puzzles together concretely for all of us to attain the SDGs and beyond.”
